About

Who we are

Health care is a major challenge in India. Though primary care successfully reached rural areas, secondary, tertiary care, advanced medical facilities, and qualified health care professionals largely confined to major cities. Patients suffering with chronic conditions often find it difficult to cope with hardships associated with treatment.

IHP aims to play a vital role in health care delivery through evidence-based design and program innovations to improve access of quality and affordable care for the needy populations.

Through collaborations with governments, private sector, and civil society partners, in its first year of operations IHP impacted quality of life of 16,000 patients in two states and plans to cover 16 states in next 3 years.

Vision

Affordable and accessible health care to needy patients across the country.

Mission

What we do

Among non-communicable diseases, Cancer is the second largest killer in the country after heart diseases. On an average, more than 1,300 Indians (ICMR) succumb to the dreaded disease every day.

Many studies found that cancer leads to impoverishment, low quality of life and lost human potential. Large number of such patients discontinue treatment halfway due to lack of awareness, high out of pocket expenses when they travel to major cities for advanced treatment.

'Apna Ghar' (Transit Homes) provide needed guidance, care and logistic support to patients. Accommodation, food, transport, and socio-economic guidance is provided in collaboration with major hospitals, clinicians and civil society partners.

Activity Report

An estimated 7% of the world population carry an abnormal haemoglobin gene, while about 300,000 -500,000 are born annually with significant haemoglobin disorders.

Persons with blood disorders such as Thalassemia, Haemophilia and Sickle cell anaemia need regular quality blood transfusion services, adequate medication, and regular care for survival. For example, the haemorrhagic episodes of haemophilia treated with replacement therapy and AHF(Anti Haemophilia factor).

The availability of timely and quality services is a major challenge. India Health Partners contributes to setup such comprehensive care centres and Haemophilia Treatment Centres.

India with more than 2700 blood centres across the country, needs about 13 million units of blood to meet its minimum supplies. The requirement is 2 to 3 times higher in major cities due to advanced treatment facilities.

Shortage of blood components often create major health crisis. Advancement in quality infrastructure, human resource and accessibility through increased awareness and knowledge sharing is need of the hour.

India Health Partners actively supports various institutions to strengthening the existing infrastructure and improve quality and accessibility of services across the country.
